SP-HF1800A is the new 3-way Hi-Fi wooden speaker system with 50 watts RMS audio output. With this 3-way design, SP-HF1800A uses Hi-Fi crossover technology that makes each speaker unit respond to high, middle and low frequency respectively. SP-HF1800A integrates all sound into the perfect enveloping effects around the listener with magnificent, balance, vivid, and richer quality. The middle driver uses the 4" close frame speaker unit to deliver more accurate sound performance for vocal and most instruments from 500Hz to 7,000 Hz frequency. The lower 4" woofer is for long and deep bass without distraction less than 500Hz frequency. For personal sound preference, just adjust the Bass and Treble controls. There are two audio inputs with 2RCA and 3.5mm sockets, on the back for connection to PC/TV/DVD player/Game consoles. It also has an extra line-in jack on the front panel for connecting to an iPod, MP3 player, or CD player without disconnecting the speakers from the PC. And, it has a headphone jack for private listening.

Oh my goodness!!!!

First let me start off by saying these speakers are HUGE!!!! That 15" might not seem like much on a computer screen when you read it, but my goodness! These are gigantic...I'll split this into a Pro/Con/Overview review.Pros:THE PRICE: I got these for $67 which for a 2.0 speaker system is quite cheap in itself, compared to GigaWorks T12/T20/T40 which were second on my list.THE SOUND: My goodness... I would much rather listen to these than the Bose system downstairs (granted Bose doesn't make good speakers) it's that good. The highs are perfect and crisp, I'm noticing things in my music that I've never even heard before! The mids are really good, not the greatest but they are so smooth. Listening to Miles Davis has never been this much of a treat. The bass is very, very, very powerful for a 2.0 system. If I turn the volume up around 80% the walls start shaking, this thing really pumps it out! It says 50W although I'm pretty sure it's a little less than that, but it doesn't matter because these babies get loud enough to hear and FEEL everything in whatever you're listening to.THE LOOKS: Talk about making a first impression, the first thing I get commented on is how professional the speakers look. They almost look like floor standing speakers, except they're on the desk. The nice glossy black finish really makes them pop out, and it makes them look like they are MUCH more than $67. Another thing is that there is no grill or cover AT ALL, so you can see the woofer pumping out that bass which is very fun to watch. The drivers themselves look pretty good too! Also the fact they're big does make me look a lot more like an audiophile than what I am!THE SET UP: It took 30 seconds. No swearing. No bruises. No complaints. Since it is a 2.0 system there aren't many wires going along! It also comes with an extra line in!Cons:BASS: Could be a little more defined, but that's asking A LOT from these speakers. It's a very tight punchy bass that does make an impact.SIZE: For some people the size might be an issue, but not for me!Overview:Great speaker system... By far the best I've ever heard (not in stores) when it comes to any type of music. I haven't watched movies with these but music... These things are phenomenal! I have a 2.1 system and I can't stand to listen to music on it anymore! The sub just drowns out everything! If you need a 2.0 speaker system because like me, you're sick of the bass overpowering everything, and you have $60ish to spend, then I have no idea why you aren't getting these! The Creative GigaWorks T40's are a little better, but are twice the price! Are these the best out there? No, but they are DARN close to the top.Would I recommend these to a fr- YES! I recommend these to anyone who likes music!!!!!!

Remarkable

When you say to me computer speakers, I think small, odd shaped plastic contraptions that sound like they look. These Genius units are serious speakers. Even at close inspection , they look like higher end bookshelf units. And they sound as good as they look.When they are set up right, they actually present a sound stage. Remarkable. The bottom 4" speaker is the low frequency, ported, long throw woofer. The upper 4" speaker is the midrange, apparently boxed or isolated from it's woofer cousin. Good speakers shouldn't add color or tone to what your listening to. These don't. They do well, they have a good voice.When I got them, I hooked up one of my mp3 players to it to check it out. At first I thought, no volume. Wrong. Good speakers do that. No distortion, they don't make you squint or grimace when they're turned up. They sound good and you don't realize how loud it is. They're not bone shakers but they will make my wife complain. Electronics are good. Dead silent between songs with the built in amp fully maxed. I leave treble and bass adjustment at midpoint and play without equalization and there is a little boominess only with certain music. One thing, check the measurements. These are large for computer speakers.If you like to listen to music. you'll like these. Well worth the little bit they cost.

Decent Set of Speakers for Small Room

Let me preface this review by saying that I've been a Hi-fi/Stereo equipment aficionado for over 35 years. At one time I had over 4000.00 invested in my stereo system. I've owned speakers made by B&W, Polk, Klipsch, Dahlquist, JBL, Boston Acoustics and more. I know a little bit about speakers, acoustics and electronic sound reproduction. I also love music and span across many genres such as classical, jazz, rock, pop, fusion, opera, swing and more.So, let's talk about these speakers. First of all, I knew from the reviews that this was lacking in lower bass and that was okay. I have an older Sony, powered, active-subwoofer that can crank out rib-cage rattling 85 watts RMS of bass from about 150hz down to about 30hz. I needed mid-bass, mid range and the upper frequencies. These speakers fit the bill, but I had to do a heck of a lot of equalization.When I first hooked the speakers up, I turned the volume all the way up, but kept the bass and treble controls neutral. My laptop, via the Windows Media Player (Windows 7), would control the volume - the subwoofer is turned all the way up too. I control everything from a wireless keyboard so that I can sit back on the couch and control everything. The first song, jazzy big-band tune, I played indicated that these speakers are way too boomy (mid-bass concentration) without equalization. I set the bass to min and treble to max on the Speaker controls and then I epent the next 3 hours going through various favorite songs across all genres as I tweaked the custom, graphic equalizer on Media Player. I also reduced "tru-bass" on the SRS WOW effects. At the end of the night, my music was finally sounding good.For the 70.00 I paid for these, they can't be beat. They are replacing a pair of 15 year old, Yamaha desktop, PC speakers that were missing a lot of range. You can see them in the photo sitting next to the Genius speakers - the Yamahas are tiny by comparison. These Genius speakers are loud enough for a small room, like my "Man-cave" (enclosed patio). They will work well in a den, office or small bedroom too. Probably not so well in a living room or family room. I have the JBLs powered by a 100 watt RMS Sony reciever as well as a 100 watt powered Infinity subwoofer in the living room. I almost never use that setup - too loud says my lovely wife.These are worth the money, but keep your expectations realistic. Enjoy.
