5Great Middleweight Pack
By Bike Commuter
Purchased the large, meteorite model pack for dayhiking, overnight hikes with shelters, and airplane travel. So far, it has worked well in every capacity.Strengths- Good distribution of weight between hips and shoulders when loaded.- Solid construction, feels as though it will last through the years.- The two loops for storing trekking poles are awesome, not a feature on my other packs.- Very breathable where the frame rest against your back, no major sweat buildup.- Size and shape is ideal for active hiking and scrambling, so no need to leave gear behind during side trips.Weakness- The cord lock for the drawstring that closes the top is a pain by design. All in all, a great pack for middleweight excursions at a great price compared to major stores. Someone with a full set of ultralight and tight packing gear might find it suitable for every occasion. Just be sure to buy for where you want to hike, as this bag is too small for my full tent setup, nor for hikes where it is necessary to carry 1-2 days worth of water.

I bought this bag a little naive on the cubic inch measurements. I thought it would be bigger. It is a great bag, just not the size I was looking for. I encourage you to go to a store and examine in person and then come to Amazon.

4Nike Air Force
By Sharon
These were a gift for my husband. He picked them out and is pleased with the shoes. Ever since my husband discovered the Nike Air he has been sold on the comfort of the shoe. We both tried Asics gel shoes (on the recommendation of a doctor because my husband was having some foot issues)several years ago and they were the worst shoes we've ever had. Since then all we ever buy are Nike because they are just so comfortable. I would like to see more classic designs offered - the spiderman look is a little too much for my taste.

5One and only daypack - works for everything (inside and out)
By Gaea
This bag may be one of the best investments I have ever made! I use it for everything. It was originally purchased three years ago as a day pack for our hike of the Inca Trail in Peru. I did a lot of research and determined that this would be the best solution. We needed a pack large enough to carry gear for the day and any type of weather. We were not carrying tents or sleeping bags, so we needed a bit less space. My husband was so impressed when it arrived, that he purchased the exact same bag in a large. Since it's first successful outing, this bag has been our go-to bag for any and all trips. We've taken it on airplane flights stuffed full of our daughter's blankets, toys and DVD player with enough room for our books and light sweaters. It's gone on car trips packed with clothes and toys. It's gone on day hikes and picnics with food and blankets. It went to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro stuffed with 3 liters of water, jackets, rain gear, snacks etc. It is a roomy size for a daypack and large enough for a weekend overnighter. The pull tabs are nice as they have rings you can grab even with thick gloves on. The storage pocket on top is great for keys, passports and other items you need in a hurry. The front pocket holds travel folders, books, snacks and sweaters with ease. The drink pockets on the side, like most packs, are useless for water bottles if you are hiking. They fit in, but are difficult to squeeze in if you have the straps down tight and require you to take off your pack to get them back in. They are great for an extra water bottle (as camelbak backup) or for storing snacks, Goo shots, pocket translators, etc. The hip belt is comfy and has never dug uncomfortably into my hip bones. If you tighten the chest strap too tight, it pulls the top straps a bit too close and can rub your clavicals, but keep it loose enough and it is fine. The two hip pockets are super convenient for chapstick, money, candy, etc and are suprisingly large. The load straps are easy to adjust and keep loads (light and heavy) well balanced. It hugs my back and stays put, but also has a very nice air gap that prevents too much sweat. I recommend this bag to anyone and everyone - you will not be disappointed!

5What is not to love?
By Jackie Murphy
I am only 5' and finding a backpack that fits is not an easy task. This one is perfect - and it is a beautiful shade of PURPLE! Yahoo! We are doing a awesome hike between camps in the Sierras this summer, so I needed something that was bigger than my regular "go out and hike for the day" pack, but do not need to carry a tent and sleeping bag. I love the little zippered pouches in the hip belt - they are perfect for my chapstick, sport beans, Aleve, etc.! Oh, and did I mention it is PURPLE!

5A (summer) month of academic conferences and play in Europe, and this backpack fit EVERYTHING and passed carryon for RyanAir
By SmallFox
(Scotland-Italy-Switzerland-Germany-Turkey) Everything fits, so long as you can do laundry a couple of times.I love this backpack so much. I am 5'6" and I got the S/M size. It's super tough and you won't believe how much stuff you can cram into it. I had to have dressy clothes for conferences, something warm for cool nights in Scotland, and everything in between. I only took a pair of birkenstock gizeh sandals and a foldable pair of flats + tiny shower sandals for shoes, to be fair (I mostly wore the birks and the latter two didn't really take up room). I also loved that for hiking and day trips, I could empty everything into a big shopping bag wherever I was staying and use this as a daypack. Super comfy and I still use it all the time now that I'm back at work/school.

5Awesome pack for bike commuting!
By Z. Jackson
I received this pack as a gift (from my Amazon wishlist). I own the Talon 44 and use it for overnight backpacking trips. I needed a smaller pack for my bike commute and day hikes. Osprey has a long reputation for making quality packs, and their unconditional lifetime warranty can't be beat.On to the Talon 22: My first impression after opening the pack was that the build quality feels really solid. The material is lightweight, but has a nice amount of stretch which should prevent most snags. The main interior compartment is very roomy, and I like that the hydration pouch is separate. This will help keep stuff inside dry and free from condensation from your bladder. For commuting I am carrying a macbook air, a notebook, a folder, my lunch and sometimes a change of clothes. There is more than enough room for these items, plus a 2 liter bladder.Pros:Helmet holder (also works great for a nalgene bottle)Nice materialHigh quality stitchingLots of adjustmentAirscape back allows for great air flowTop access zipper compartment for small loose items.Cons:A bit expensive for a day pack, but the lifetime warranty and quality make up for itWould like one or two more small zippered pocketsOverall: I would highly recommend this pack for commuting or day hikes. Outstanding quality, comfortable fit (6'1", 210 lb)

5Great climbing pack
By Donald Zeller
I use this for sport climbing to carry my Petzl Elios helmet (using the LidLock), 12-14 quick draws in the top pocket, a 70m 9.4mm rope in the main compartment (with a first aid kit in the Velcro pouch), along with a 3L water reservoir. You can fold back the waist pockets to keep them out of the way and to store a few smaller items such as wallet and cellphone. I hook my shoes and harness along with chalk bag to the top loop. I carry my Kindle with guidebooks in the small pouch on the outside. I don't usually pack much food on my climbing trips, but you could squeeze in a few protein bars or trail mix. It is amazing a pack this small can fit so much. In total, this bag has been able to handle 20-30 lbs of gear comfortably, with a small load it can pack very small. I have an Osprey Atmos 65 for backpacking, and this bag is a perfect compliment to it for single day adventures.

4Conflicted - GREAT Pack BUT.... a Defect on Day 2
By The Dawdler
By all rights this should be a five star review. This pack is really well-designed and looks beautiful. I just bought it a week ago so it's hard to say how it will wear but as far as I can tell I'm going to be really happy with it.EXCEPT.... on the second day of use I pulled the Lidlock clip out a bit and the Lidlock cord just straight up fell out. It basically tore off and just pulled all the way out of the side that was attached to the backpack. This really bummed me out. Not because I actually even needed the Lidlock (I was just looking at it). But if this cord tore out with a quick pull (and not a hard pull), what other aspects of this pack are defective?I paid a lot of money for this pack with the expectation that it was high quality. Now I'm not so sure.I know that the best of products will have a defect from time to time and I know I can get this repaired for free. But to have a defect right off the bat was just kind of a bummer.I hope to have the opportunity to leave a five star review for an Osprey pack some day as, so far, this pack is otherwise really fantastic.******* UPDATE (12/13/2011) - Five months later and the pack has been put to a LOT of use and has been excellent! No other defects, very well-designed. I am changing from three stars to four stars.

5Life saver!
By nygirlinok
I twisted my ankle running and it was swollen for over 3 weeks when I finally decided to buy this walking boot. I am in real estate and could not stay off it. No insurance so I didnt go to the doctor either. I have been wearing it for just over a week and my is finally getting better. No more swelling. It is a life saver. It is comfortable and I can walk with ease. I highly recommend this walking boot.

5Was wonderful
By M. Damron
Sprained my ankle seriously, was swollen and bruised and I couldn't get up from my chair. ER gave me crutches that I repeatedly fell using, hurting myself worse. I order this product and had it next day shipped after I went crazy from sitting in the same chair for 3 days. Literally crazy, hysterical crying so frustrated. Was in the bath when it was delivered and "porch pirates" stole it ( people who follow around UPS trucks and steal merchandise). Called Amazon immediately and they refunded my money. This is why I shop with Amazon. Got another 2 days later.Product was a godsend. Easy to use, comes apart to clean. Velcro adjusts to tightness you want. Air pockets inside pump up to hold steady your ankle. I was able to walk right away with no pain, NO PAIN that's the important part. I was mobile and very happy.Wouldn't recommend this but I was able to drive in it.

5Great boot.
By Paul R Bowe
I had Achilles reconstruction surgery after years of tendinitis. Had to wear walkers like this daily for over three years and this was the best. My skin got really itchy in others but with a good absorbing sock it wasn't a problem with this boot. I mostly recovered now but still have to pull it out every once and awhile and it still works perfectly after tons of use. My only complaint would be the shin area could use more padding but that might be just me.

5Great for traveling!
By DaDa
I was skeptical if it would work, but sure enough, the Osprey Exos 46 (size Large) worked very well as a carryon pack for a recent trip to Europe and Asia. It is actually to long (according to airline specifications for a carryon bag), but I was never questioned about its size. In fact, some of the crew commented on how they wish they had one!I didn't overstuff the pack, and cinched down well, but I was able to fit all of my clothes and equipment into this thing, with plenty of room to spare (note: I washed clothes half way through my week long trip). It was also useful to take off the top pocket of the bag and use as a "personal item" on the plane, so that I could keep books, water, snacks, and headphones with me during the flights. I also attached a shoulder strap to this pocket and used it for a daypack during my trip, leaving the main pack where I was staying. The pack was super light, and durable (even with the smaller straps!). Would recommend highly!

5A fantastic pack
By tygr
I dropped (sold) my old much larger backpack less than a year ago and I've never looked back. This Osprey® pack is fantastic in every way. First off, because of it's small capacity (my choice), I am forced to be smart about everything I take with me. I don't want to carry the kitchen sink anymore. :) Second, the straps on it are perfect for everything I want to take. I am annoyed that almost every backpack uses straps that could easily hold an elephant. This one doesn't have unnecessary straps, and they are just the right size (width). Third, I love the "Air Speed" feature. Just when I was feeling hot, a breeze would blow across my back because the fabric on this pack is not against me; it is held away from my back just enough to allow very comfortable air movement across my back. Fourth, Osprey® guarantees their packs for as long as you own the pack. If anything happens to it, they will repair/replace it.SIDE NOTE: Empty, this pack weighs about 2.31 lbs. If you put a three liter water bladder in it, the water alone will weigh 6.6 lbs, triple the weight of the empty pack. That's how light this pack is. Your full Nalgene® Everyday(tm) 1L water bottle weighs MORE than this pack when empty. Don't be afraid to buy it; this pack is not fragile in any way.

4From a serious pack lover...
By jarod marshall
Ive travelled internationally for my job for over a decade and I've come to expect a lot from the bags I use. In my early days, I had entire packs come apart flinging my stuff everywhere. I decided a long time ago that the bag you trust all of your priceless personal items and expensive gadgets to should not be a cheap piece of junk.I've used Osprey packs for years, yet they have never had a day pack/computer pack that worked for me, mostly because of their ultralight design approach. The Momentum 34 hits a new high. It has a nice stiff back that protects your laptop and props the bag up on its own without losing comfort. It has great organization and really shouldn't be confined to the bike commute. The two pockets on the shoulder straps are amazing, however, the key zip attachment needs a quick clip and not a O-ring.My only gripe is that every decent pack needs at least one dedicated bottle/thermos pocket. The momentum has two side pockets at the bottom that are actually very nice for keeping a power brick, cliff bars, etc... i.e. items too for the main compartment of the bag, but too small for the pen/key pocket. When you open the side pockets there is a little mesh lining that keep the items from falling out yet handy at the same time. It's really a great idea. The problem is that these two side pockets are not large enough to keep a bottle/thermos mug. They will fit a can of soda or a 12 oz water bottle, but that's it and not conveniently at all. The thing that saves the Momentum for me is the rear "dump" pocket. It is high and narrow with a bit of stretch to it so a 16-20oz bottle slides in very nicely. It's just wide enough that I can slide my thermos mug in there too. This pocket is dedicated for a U-lock so I'm not sure what Osprey was thinking by not having a water bottle pocket; however, whether by accident or intent, the dump pocket is perfect for people that need to keep liquids at hand!Honestly, if you want a pack that is well thought through buy from a company that is primarily a pack company like Osprey. NOT The North Face, or many others. Marmot makes great jackets, but horrible packs.

5Great bike commuter pack - 4.5 stars
By Alyssa
I've had this pack (S/M) for about a month and have used it daily for bicycle commuting and once for a weekend air-travel trip. I'm really happy with it. Finally a backpack that is made to use when riding a bike, that has a bunch of pockets, and that holds enough for a day at work, to the gym, to the shower, and back. There are a few changes that would make this pack perfect, but overall it's been worth my money.Features:I love the rain fly. It is bright yellow and comes out and on in about 10 seconds, and even has an attachment spot for a blinky. The lid lock works perfectly to snap my helmet (or a neck pillow)on the outside of my bag. The shoulder straps can be tucked into the bag and zipped away, and there are handles for carrying from the top or side of the pack. I've removed the detachable waist belt, but would put it back on for longer rides with heavier/bigger loads. The pack expands with a zip-around zipper, giving me enough room to easily fit a pair of running shoes when the bag had been too full to fit either before. The compression straps keep the load from being floppy (and were a must-have after my last pack). The sternum strap is adjustable and comfortable - but I find I actually have to use it, which wasn't always the case with other packs. It may have something to due with my poly/nylon winter jacket, but the straps are slippery and don't seem to stay on unless I have fasten the sternum strap. This might be a good thing too, but I've never had a problem with chafing from shoulder straps on a bike(upper body doesn't move that much on a bike). The back panel is comfortable and does a great job at keeping any bulky or pointy items from jabbing me. In the winter, my outer layer is windproof and I always appreciate the added warmth of a pack, so I really have no comment on ventilation it allows.Storage:It holds more than I thought it would, I've packed running shoes, skirt, shirt, lightweight sweater, heels, along with a 14" laptop and a couple magazines, and was able to zip it up with no problem.I love the compartmentalization. This pack has enough organization that I can fit all of my essentials (first aid, u-lock, snack bars, patch kit, mini-pump, micro-fiber rag, resistance bands, toiletries, chamois towel, wallet, makeup, pens, watch, jewelry, flip flops, etc.) without putting any of them in the main compartments. This is important both because I want to be able to access this stuff quickly, and also because I'm packing and unpacking daily with a change of clothes (or two). The shoulder strap pockets (phone on the left (note: on S/M, it is not big enough for an iPhone, don't know about M/L) and keys (with a retractable key ring) on the right) are great, and don't get in the way at all for me.I have to preface the next piece by saying that this is the best pack I've had for commuting. Osprey makes great packs. Having one of their other backpacking packs, I was thrilled to see their entry into the bike commuter market. That said, here's my biggest complaint about the Metropolis: The positing of the auxillary pockets could be better for everyday commuting use. When my pack is only lightly loaded, since I have the extra pockets full, most of the load is at the top of the pack. Even when it shouldn't be an issue, I still see the pack when I'm looking over my shoulder. (I'm on my bike, so this is important.) Whatever I put into the auxiliary pockets reduces the amount I can put into the main compartment. With the exception of the marsupial pouch and the shoulder strap pockets, the smaller storage pockets all expand into the main compartment instead of expanding outside the bag. So, when I have the auxiliary pockets filled (which I usually do), it means the main compartment isn't an approximate rectangle. I have to squeeze stuff into the bottom of bag where there is space - the top is full with contents from the top pocket. I should say almost-the-bottom of the bag - either side of the bottom of the bag is full with contents from the side pocket. What makes packing it especially annoying is the fact that the panel access (better than top load!) only unzips the top half of the bag. Getting a pair of dress slacks in without bunching them up is possible, but challenging. If you want to carry a water bottle on the pack - neither my nalgene or stainless steel bottles fit in the side pockets (28 oz range), and when I put a small 12 oz water it, it kept wanting to slide out. All of these bottles fit in the marsupial pouch. But of course, then they aren't accessible without removing the pack. I miss my old pack's mesh pocket. It held a water bottle or whatever else I stuffed in there - a bandana, some candy, a pair of gloves. It was really nice to have one-handed access to a pocket on the fly. The size zip pockets have a little mesh webbing, but the webbing is loose - so you still need to zip to keep anything from falling out. There is a second compartment behind the main compartment that holds flat things, like a laptop. It has (what looks like) a waterproof zipper, and inside it has both a fastened pocket for a laptop and another inch or two deep pocket. I bet I could fit two laptops in it! Anyway, it works laptops and papers/books. I love that the laptop pocket is positioned toward the middle of the bag (instead of against the back). It gives the laptop a little more protection. Also - the rain fly is in a pocket on the bottom of the pack, also offering a little protective padding down there.Air travel:Stuffed to the gills, it fit in the overhead bin (sideways). I had to take the neck pillow out from under the elastic helmet clip (lid lock) and had to pull my winter jacket out of the marsupial pouch, but that probably goes without saying. The fact that I could zip away the shoulder straps meant that I didn't dangle them in another passengers face as I put my bag up. (Sorry for not doing that the first time!)Summary:So, overall a great pack. Holds a ton, has awesome bike commuting features, has great compartmentalization, and feels secure and comfortable. I wish the main compartment were easier to load and unload, and that I didn't see it when I looked over my shoulder, but I don't think there is a better bag out there. (Note: immediately after buying this bag, I noticed that Osprey came out with a new cycling pack. Haven't fully investigated, but it may have some improvements over this one.)

3Nice Features but....
By Fionn MacCool
This pack has all the bells and whistles you want in a pack. It has a pocket for everything located in the right place and you won't run out of room with it's capacity. My only gripe about this pack is the back panel. It's up against your back and doesn't allow any airflow between it, which means that your back will get sweaty quick. If the next iteration of this pack allowed some airflow or spaced padding to keep the back of the pack away from your back and allow airflow it would be a winner. I've returned the pack and will wait and see if Osprey will make that change. I bought both sizes when I considered purchasing the pack and at 5' 7.5" I decided to go with S/M. I felt the M/L was a little too big. Try both sizes if you can before deciding which size to purchase.
