VERY satisfied with these. These motorcycle boots provide all features that should be provided by good gear. They are sturdy and will not bend easily in the case that you take a fall, providing good ankle protection. If you can grab the ankle of a boot and bend it easily in your hand, it isn't the best thing to be wearing on the road. This one provides good resistance against that. It's even more evident when you're wearing them and they are buckled snugly. Extra padding has been placed for protection over the ankles and other vulnerable parts. The toe is firmly reinforced.The shoes can easily and quickly be put on or taken off thanks to the simple buckles it uses. They are weather resistant. They are comfortable. It may have taken a month or two of riding about twice a week to break them in, which I consider fairly quick.The grid of rubber knobs over the top of the shoe is meant to help grip while shifting up. Not really sure if the additional grip is necessary, though, the shoe's leather is tough and not slippery. I can imagine that it might improve comfort by lessening the pressure on your toes when you shift, and maybe extend the life of the shoe, since the leather itself won't rub against the shifter as much as it otherwise would.I think these shoes are great for new riders. If you're just starting out and getting gear for the first time, you want something that provides excellent protection in as many riding situations as possible, but also doesn't look silly and outlandish in combination with normal clothes. I put the money down for a nice, tan Dainese jacket that looks good in a bar, and these boots in a tan color to match. Go for it, these are great.
