5I'm Impressed!
By John N.
Thought I was going to have to settle for one of those lesser brands, where the ports go out five minutes after you buy the switch, and then ran across Cisco's Small Business series. Not a rebadged Linksys, but a true Cisco-grade piece of hardware that mere mortals can afford. And talk about affordable. With the rebate program that Cisco has been running, it's almost like they're paying you to upgrade to the 300 series. For the unacclimated ... 100 series is unmanaged, 200 series somewhat managed, and the 300 series fully managed with all of the bells and whistles (vlans, layer 3, etc). One word of caution. If you're looking to take advantage of Cisco's cash back rebate, make sure the online retailer shows up on Cisco's web site as being a Cisco Partner. They have a search feature that can aid you in making this determination.

5Excellent switch
By Joshua S. Lucy
This unit is pretty awesome. I like the modern and OS/browser-independent web UI. Great features -- especially the QoS engine and port/802.1X security features. I also have a Cisco SG300-10 installed in a "wiring closet" that works very well in conjunction with this. I have both devices configured in layer 2 mode, and I'm doing VLAN (802.1Q) trunking between the two units and a Cisco 3640 which is extremely fast. The switches are also configured for QoS tagging of VoIP and other application-specific traffic, assuring bandwidth for specific applications across both switches in the network. Good gear, excellent price for the capabilities and low power consumption.

5Good programmable switch
By Roger1
Got tired of the junky "home" Ethernet switches that routinely require turning the power off and then on. Programmable so I can run two links to my SAN. Fits in standard rack (1U), so I matched it with a rack mount Tripplite power strip (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006B834/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and a universal rack tray (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007OGTGS/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in a StarTech 6U wall mount and put a bunch on other gear (such as a router) on the shelf. Very neat and clean install that just quietly does it's job.
