I have a 60 watt Fender Blues Deville 4x10 that is pretty darn loud and clean. To get distortion you have to turn it up to about 5, and at that volume the neighbors are calling or the audience has left the bar.I installed these and it drastically cut the power. Now with a humbucker it's even a little distorted at the lowest volume. With single coils the lowest volume is clean, but still has a little dirt/bite.With the volume set to 3, it's a crunchy distortion with a humbucker and a smooth distortion with single coils. At 5 I feel like I'm Jimmy closing Woodstock. It's a dripping wet feedbackish distortion. So distorted, in fact, that turning on both of my overdrive pedals did not make it sound any different. The only downside is a design flaw in the adapter. The EL84 tubes fall out. There's really nothing keeping them in. If I took the amp to a club the tubes would certainly fall out in the trip. The Fender amp (and most other "upside down" amps) has a system that locks the 6l6 tubes in place. The Yellow Jacket adapter has no system to hold the EL84 tubes in place. If I carried the amp around, I'd have to pull the tubes and carry them separately, which is sort of annoying. But if you want to lower the output in your tube amp so you can crank it like a mothaducka, these are the adapters and tubes for you.
