14AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Loud Speaker Cable - 250ft (For In-Wall Installation)

It's often argued that using name brand, or high quality speaker wires can bring out the best performance from any high quality speaker system. While there is some merit to the idea of using high quality cables, it seems many companies have taken this idea far beyond it's logical limits and in so doing created a whole new snake oil industry. Bottom line, when it comes to speaker wire, if they're talking about special alloys, magical filaments or direction specific wires and charging tens, hundreds or even thousands of dollars per foot, chances are, they've probably crossed the line.

The truth is, one of the best materials for transferring electrical signals is pure copper. Higher grade copper will offer less signal resistance and have less tendency to corrode or tarnish underneath the jacket. These cables are capable of delivering loud, clear and crisp audio reproduction limited only by the quality of the equipment you are using.

If you're looking for a décor friendly cable, look no further than the Cmple CL2 rated speaker cable. They come with a white outer jacket to blend in with your walls and baseboards for out of wall applications and are CL2 rated to meet most building codes * for installation behind the walls when you want to keep the cables completely out of sight.

4Effective, but less than ideal for on walls
By Misha Novini
First of all, to get 250 feet of quality copper 14 gauge speaker wire for only $50 is a steal. However, the first thing I noticed when I received the wire is that it doesn't have the same form that typical speaker wire has. Most speaker wire is manufactured as a single solid piece of plastic that is molded around 2 lengths of copper wire. The plastic coating around each wire is simple, soft, flexible, and molded to the copper wire. If the plastic coating is white, then it can typically be run along the edge of a wall without really taking away from the cosmetics of the room. However, this product is essentially manufactured like electrical wire. Each copper wire has its own thin molded plastic, and these two insulated wires are encased in a large white plastic coating. The two individual wires are "loose" within the coating, and are not attached in any way to each other or the outer coating. This isn't necessarily a problem. It runs well through walls. But the problems with this are that the whole cable is wider than it really needs to be (which can make running the cable through small openings more challenging) and it's also not very pretty to run along the edge of a wall. If you're running the cable through walls or through the roof, then it's fine. Another nuisance is that each copper wire's individual coating is molded pretty solidly onto the wire, making it an additional challenge to strip the wire. All in all, if you're doing the installation yourself, this can be somewhat of a pain in the neck to use. However, in the end, it is quality wire that is quite strong, and plenty thick enough. It carries the sound well across decent distances (20' - 40' per speaker), and my music sounds great. And it was a fraction of the price of what I would have spent on different wire. Given the option, I would probably buy this again. I would just take into consideration the extra effort for installation when planning the next install.

By Steve Lowery
This is THE wire to u, for your home theater needs...It is extremely easy to work with, as well as being the perfect conductor of HI-FI Audio frequencies. It is easy to route through walls....the outer jacket strips off easily, as does ther insulation of both inner wires.....BUY THIS, you will not regret this purchase. SL ...stlouisstevel

5Great Deal!

If you are running cable behind the walls, you need cable rated for "in wall" installation for most building codes. At $50 for 250', this is best deal I could find by quite a bit for 14 AWG CL2 rated wire. The orange big box sells it for 0.61 a foot, which is about $150/250', although if you only need 10 feet...I wired a 7.1 system (receiver/sub in the back of the room, 17' front to back, 14' wide), and have enough left to wire the speakers to the wall plates, but not enough to wire a second zone.It is advertised that it can be used inside or outside the wall, but it is going to be noticeable if you put in view. The wire is fairly thick (slightly greater than a quarter inch, ~5/16"), and not smooth, and it has black writing on the outside sheath, none of which make it camouflaged. I will use it for the foot or so between the wall and the back of the speaker, but that won't be visible.Another note about the thickness: If you are running 7.1 sound, this makes for quite a wad of cable going back to the receiver. Like 3 or 4 3/4" holes through the wall top plate.I used standard electrical wiring techniques to strip the wire, and it was no harder than any electrical power cable. I used a box cutter to gently cut parallel to the wires, then peeled that back and cut it off. I stripped each wire with Miller Strippers (101S type), but any electrical wire strippers would have worked fine (maybe better). One more note, I reused some of my "home theater in a box" speakers for the surrounds, and the wire opening would not take 14 AWG. I had to peel back some of the strands and tape them back until I can afford some real surrounds.
