The D-Light Owl-272 DL is a stylish, functional lightweight, and protective backpack which is designed to carry camera gear and everyday personal effects while be able to be converted into a useful daypack when not using or carrying a camera. The main camera compartment holds a Pro DSLR with battery grip attached and up to a 70-200mm lens attached, positioned for quick grip access. Use the Aeriform dividers to arrange compartments for up to 6 additional lenses + flash + accessories. Carry your water bottle in the large side pocket or with in the fold-out mesh pocket. The unique quick draw capability lets you effortlessly access your gear by swinging the bag to your front. No need to take off the bag! Use the provided tripod connecting straps to carry a field tripod on the front of the backpack to enjoy the best balance and weight distribution. Insertrolley connection is available for wheel-along transportation. Simply tuck away the harness and slide the handle through the dedicated sleeve on the back of the bag. Truly in a class by itself

I did significant research before buying this backpack and I am very pleased with my purchase so far.This is not a small bag, nor is it overly large. The straps are very comfortable and as in the bag extremely well built.The bag with all of the center cushions weighs in at 4 lbs and is extremely light.I use the bag for my overseas business/scuba diving trips. In the main compartment I have my underwater camera, housing, strobe, wide angle lens and base/arm assembly which all easily fits and is extremely well protected. The laptop section is cavernous and easily fits my HP 15.4 workstation. The top section is a simple area where you just put in items.If I was to be critical in any way I would say that I would have liked to have seen the main compartment top lid open flatBut that is it, this bag is cut above the rest.

Quality is bad and customer service is terrible.

Quality is bad and customer service is terrible. I am a professional photographer and purchased this bag for an assignment in December 2010. The chest strap separated from bag two weeks into the assignment. The strap cannot be reattached. In January 2011, I contacted Kata about the warranty issue and received a reply from Eti Sheffer in customer service. Eti asked for additional information including lot number and photos of the defect. I sent her the info on or about the same day I received her request. I never heard back from Eti or anyone Kata customer service. It is now March 13, 2011. I have sent several emails and voicemails asking about my warranty claim and all have gone unanswered.The defective chest strap does not make the bag unusable but being ignored by customer service is very frustrating to say the least. This is the first Kata product I have owned and sadly it will be the last. I am looking at other brands to replace it.

The side pocket for quick access to the camera can only be used with the right hand. You cannot sling the pack on your right shoulder and access the camera from the pocket on that side.This pack from Tamrac allows for reconfiguation of the pack internals to use either side packet.
