Good-bye granularity

This really is lower in sugar than what we have been accustomed to. It's very obvious. And for some reason, it has more flavor! It's hard to explain, but the interior of the fruit is moister without being wet. Maybe that's where the extra flavor comes from. Really good and tender. And it was a bargain! We all love it.

very good, but not candy....

these spears are not organic, but they try to be healthy by not adding excessive sugar on the skin, no added sulfides and no preservatives.Sulfides keep the color bright orange, these obviously are not, but they are colorful enough to look tasty. Without excess sugar, they do not have that candy like flavor that many of the heavy sugar versions offer. But the taste is good, unless you have a super sweet tooth, then you might find them a bit short on sweetness. The texture is very good, partially dried, but not fully dried, which concentrates the sugar, but does not make the spears DRY and hard...instead, they have texture similar to jelly candy. Flavor overall is good. For a six pack, price is very competitive on Amazon...Kudos to Amazon for bringing us these hard to find products.Papaya is touted to have some great anti-inflammatory properties... in my case, I actually notice some of these benefits. Although I limit carb intake, this has become my go-to carb due to their anti inflammatory property.

(Edit 5/14/13: I stopped buying - GMO concern) A staple in our house- just papaya and cane sugar, NO sulphur dioxide!!

I can give these to my kids who follow a non-chemical, low salicylate, low amine diet for their ADHD. (I was able to decrease their adhd medication by 30% w/ diet only.) They all like it; it is very sweet in my opinion, but I am okay w/ cane sugar as it's much better for us than high fructose corn syrup, and they need the calories anyway.Edit 5/14/13: I've stopped buying these after I learned that many papayas are GMO and this brand does not indicate that it is "non-GMO." I suspect GMOs may be causing or partially causing my children's multiple food intolerances; in any case, GMOs can't be helping. Better safe than sorry I guess... :) I reduced my rating from 5 stars to 1 star.
