By trekker gal
I trek challenging conditions, weeks at a time-anywhere from 6-10 hour hikes per day. I consider myself an experience trekker, climber.I was looking for a top of the line boot for an upcoming warm weather trek. I have a narrow foot, long toes, very narrow heel and a high arch.I ordered 9 different pairs of boots before I found the one that fit just right. This boot rocks. (and they were the least expensive!)I put an insert inside the boot for more support with my high arch. For me, no heel issues, the toe box is a good size, no toe crashing or rubbing. Sturdy bumpers. Lace eyelets are sturdy too. Excellent sole grip even on loose pebbles on steep inclines and wet surfaces. They are "fairly" light weight. They are not heavy, but they are not light.I tested them in Central America on a four week trek in the mountains and rain forest. These babies worked out perfect. Not one single hot spot (of course I had great hiking socks), they did not overheat my feet. No arch issues and my heel did not move a bit. (although I am certain insert, socks and excellent lacing played a role in that as well)Best of all, my feet stayed dry even after stomping through muddy trails, streams in the rain forest. I have not tested these in cold climate but will update when that happens in the fall. They were pretty beat up by the time I returned home. I just hosed them down real good and let them dry in the sun. Good as new. They are so comfortable I wear them everyday.Only two concerns about these boots. 1) laces failed after two weeks. 2) I am concerned the sole will wear out quickly. I plan to have it resoled before my next trip-thats cheaper than buying a new pair.Advice-before you buy anything, spend the 15 or so bucks on a good pair of hiking socks and learn how to lace properly. The lacing can make or break a boot. spray with sealant. buy an insert. always have an extra set of laces.Additionally, keep in mind Asolo makes several different models-none fit me correctly except this one. So if one model doesnt work out for you, try a different one.UPDATE: Wore these on a 6 week trek in the Himalayas. Worked great in cold (20-30 degree) weather with snow and ice as well as 100 degree weather. I think the key is top notch socks and good lacing. So far the gortex has worked well. I know eventually it will wear out and it will betime to buy a new pair of boots. My feet stayed dry when I was in wet conditions. Downside? it the hot conditions my feet were sweating like crazy. Solution for that medical powder on the feet inside the socks. Change the socks every few hours. Otherwise blisters will form no matter how much duct tape you use. BTW-Gorilla Tape was the best for me. but if you dont change your socks out often you will have problems all over your feet.Also-I paid more to purchase from REI. I selected REI since they have a lifetime warranty on them. Asolo doesn't even have that. You can return them to REI if the boots start to fall apart.

By TANER UYSAL
This shoe was purchased for my wife. We go to 4-21 days long trekking trips in Turkey (Lycian Way, Aladag, Kackar) as well as frequent non-technical high altitude mountaineering (Mt Ararat, Himalayas-Nepal treks). After sensitive search my wife has selected this shoe to fit her needs better than other models/makes for our non-winter trekking/Non-thech backpacking activities. Few of our friends have been using the same shoe for similar purpose in our Club and have recommended us. So far , product performs well, especially for harsh ground/scree condition. It is very lightweight and robust. Good value.

By Elaine Olson
I'm actually buying my second pair of these. I have worn my first pair through in the toes after hundreds of miles over the last 4 years or so. I had no break in time at all. Put them on and go. It's sort of funny but anytime I'd see someone else on the trail wearing these boots, we'd both stop and point at each other's feet and start talking about our boots. I'm sure they don't work for every foot, but those for whome they do work, they are awesome!
