Nice Boot, nice price!

I purchased the blue color and it's very nice- sort of a brighter navy color but not light blue or cobalt. I'm usually an 8.5/9.0 size and I decided to go with the 9. As far as the length of the boot, I probably could have gone for the 8.5 as it's a tad long but not noticeable. The 9 will give me extra room for a sock and if necessary I can always add an insert IF they stretch out too much. There is a very nice memory type foam insert in this boot. Very comfy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the leather across the top of the foot is a bit snug though not uncomfortable at all and if you have average medium width feet then I would not be concerned about that. The boot is not narrow or constricting. The shank of the boot is very buttery soft and thin which is very nice under lighter slacks or during warmer weather.The heel is stacked and the sole is a nice rubber like material to help prevent slippage. I may get another pair in a different color.Keep in mind that boots like these are meant to be worn with a bit of heel room. In other words, my heel is not touching the back of boot at all. Sort of like wearing Dansko clogs where your heel moves freely up and down and I prefer that kind of fit.. But, if you want a super glove like fit, then order your usual size and stretch them out a bit with a thin sock.

good boot for budget-minded

Best candidates for this boot are those with medium to wide feet, who want a western boot with a masculine vibe but don't have much to spend. On the plus side, these boots are made of a nice, soft pliable leather and have a grippy sole and well-padded insole. On the down side, they were 1/2 to a full size too big (I could have gone down to a 7.5M from an 8.5) and also looked very bulky and wide at the ankle (probably due to the pull-on style). They were comfortable and a nice change from the boring brown and black peeking out from under a boot-cut trouser or jean, but ultimately were a bit too mannish and clunky looking for me (almost like a motorcycle boot without the squared off toe).

Yes, the leather on these is soft, even on the inside of the shoe. Nicely made! I love the medium-gray color. They also have a comfortable footbed, which is softer than I expected. However, sadly I will have to return them because I really need the 10.5 (I ordered an 11, after having tried on the 10 in a store), but they don't make them in that size.
