By MoxieMozo
I live in a ski resort and am an avid winter walker and hiker, so naturally I was attracted by the claims of the Treksta "Ice Lock" feature. Maybe Treksta considers hard-pack snow as ice, but my definition of ice is water that has become solid due to freezing. Several steps outside my door proved that "Ice Lock" does not give good traction on true, hard-frozen ice which is ubiquitous on the streets and sidewalks that I must walk in order to get to the hiking trails a block away. Once on the trail it gripped on hard-packed snow with a granular surface, but so did my old hiking shoes with a lug sole when they were new.I ordered my normal shoe size, but these shoes were not comfortable for my small (6.5 women's) narrow, slightly low-arched feet. I could feel a ridge between my arch and heel area which would have likely become unbearable had I worn them for a whole hike. The Treksta appeared to be well-made, but I did not get a chance to really test this shoe's durability. Its inability to provide a safer winter walking experience, discomfort in wearing it, the high price, and Amazon's wonderful return policy made the decision to return it easy.I'm giving it 3 stars because it seems to be well made and may be a great trail shoe for some, but I feel the claim of traction on ice is exaggerated.

When I was researching these trail running shoes, I could not find a review by an "EveryMan", so I took a leap of faith and simply ordered them in my normal shoe size and hoped for the best. I am not disappointed! While I originally purchased them specifically for trail running, they are quickly becoming my favorite everyday walking shoe! I ordered the gray and red and they are much more attractive than I thought they would be and go well with jeans and the rest of my casual wardrobe. I always replace the insole of running shoes with a thicker, more supportive insole, but the ones that came with these shoes are pretty good. This shoe has a good solid arch support that you can feel (which I prefer). My feet are somewhat square, average arch, and a bit wide, but not to the point where I have to order wide shoes. These shoes fit my Fred Flintstone feet very well and there has been no "breaking them in" - they've felt good since the moment I put them on. So if you have feet similar to mine, I think you will be happy with this selection.

By Darlene
These shoes are rather different looking in the toe box area and the appearance put me off for awhile. But the fit is so unusually great that I got used to the looks and now I think they're cool. There is ample room for spreading out the toes and the most arch support I've ever experienced in a shoe. These shoes are also extremely light weight and seem very breathable, which is great during summer because my feet get hot easily. I've had 2 pair and can't wait to get another if new colors come out soon.
