A Good Top for my 2003 Tracker

This top is nicely done, stitched seams are neatly done and the heat sealed seams for the clear windows look well done. I would rate it equal to a similar top from Bestop. I was a little startled when I opened the box and the paperwork referred to the Suzuki Vitara while I have a Tracker but apparently they use the same top, all of the fittings and dimensions are good on the tracker. Some of the velcro tabs are larger than the factory originals (a good thing), but some non-essential ones are omitted (for example, along the upper edge of the rear window which made zipping the rear window in a little easier because it held the window in place while you pull the zipper up the side). I did have some difficulties that are not the fault of the top, but are probably related to the age of my car (exposed to 10 years of Florida sun and salt spray). The top is necessarily cut to be a tight fit initially so that it stretches a little for a good final fit. On the tracker, the edges of the top hook into plastic parts on the body (GM calls them "garnishes") and I also made the mistake of installing it the first time on a cold day. When I pushed the knuckles on the sides of the bow (which applies a lot of leverage to tighten the top), several of the garnishes cracked. When I took them off and tried to patch them, I found that they were very brittle (probably from age). I replaced three of the garnishes (new production, available at about half the dealer cost if you shop around on line) and reinforced two others and waited for a nice hot afternoon and finished the installation without any other problems.
