Love it!!

I really researched compost buckets before purchasing. Most of the reviews for other, less expensive buckets similar in design to this Simplehuman one complained that the outside got rusty. I've had mine for months and I love it. It's never gotten rusty, it's very sturdy, and I've not yet had to replace the filter. The filter got pretty dirty from my overfilling the bucket, so I do plan to replace it today (only because it got dirty, though, not because it stopped working). Odor from the bucket has never been an issue either.My one teeny tiny complaint is that fruit flies can fit through the holes around the top where the filter goes. Because of this, I have gotten a mild (like maybe 3 flies at the most) fruit fly infestation when the weather has been warm. During the summer months, I will consider keeping my bucket in the fridge instead of on the counter if the fly issue gets to be a problem. Other than that, I love this bucket and will purchase it again if anything ever happens to mine.

Compost pails don't come more finely designed, engineered and constructed than this one. Of course it isn't inexpensive, but if you intend to keep your compost pail on the kitchen counter and to keep it in use day after day for years, what's sixty bucks out of your sweet young life?This "pail" is made of heavy gauge, satin finish stainless steel. It has serious heft and just feels well made. It has a Danish modern look to it with its clean lines, the bamboo handle on the "bail" of the bucket and flat bamboo and steel knob on the removable top. The hook on the side of the top allows you to hang it from the side of the pail rather than lay it flat on the counter. The charcoal filter inserts for the top, along with the vents along the black seam around the circumference of the top, provide good odor control. Easy to clean - although you may want to hit the outside of the pail with some stainless appliance cream and a microfiber cloth now and then to keep it looking neat and tidy as new.If you have a modern looking kitchen and want to keep a compost pail on the counter near your sink and cutting board, this is the one. After quite some time spent searching, I think I can safely say this is the ONLY one. The Ultimate Composting Machine.

We live in san francisco and our apt building has a green bin to toss bagged stuffWe dont live in the suburbs w our own compost pileThis fits with these bags (which some say are more leak resistant)2x Indaco Manufacturing 41201 Bag-To-Nature Compostable Bag And LinerAlso like that it has a hook to hold the lid and ring to anchor the bags insideAll of the pails let the stuff breathe, none sealThis came with 2 carbon filters, both sealed, so you dont need to buy any for a whileI imagine anything that gets stinky fast like fish or chicken will need to go sooner than other stuffwe drop it off about 1x per week so far for household of two (walk to other bldg in complex)i imagine well drop off regular landfill trash much less now that we have this and also use the sink disposer much lesssimple human always makes the best designed stuffi think bed bath and beyond sell their products too, but amazon and free shipping is a click once no brainer
