It's just what I was looking for!

I had a couple of small scares when the SUPERSONIC SC-719 that I ordered here arrived at my home.Upon opening the box, I found that the black oval-shaped plastic face plate you can see on the machine's front had detached in transit and was glued to the plastic bag the player was packed in. Reattaching this was easy. I simply put the plate where it belonged and it stuck fast.Problem #2: After connecting the AC cord and plugging into a wall socket, I could NOT get the thing to work! Nor did I see a POWER button. The simple to understand operating manual revealed what I learned by close inspection: NO on/off control.If you look at the photo of this silver and black machine, above the face plate is the brand name and above THAT is a prominent button. It's labeled STANDBY, which must be this new millenium's equivalent of POWER.The SUPERSONIC SC-719 is a very attractive unit, well-designed and easy-to-use.There's a telescoping whip antenna behind the large carrying handle. This is for FM reception only. AM has a built-in ferrite directional coil (turn the unit for best reception). The AM radio is very good (I'm not into FM), so if you're a talk, news and/or sports person, this baby is for you!There's an extra bass button that really adds punch to music. Frequency response is honestly assessed at 100Hz to 16Khz for CD, 125Hz to 6.3Khz for cassette.I bought this machine specifically for my vast cassette collection, and to play mp3s of old time radio shows (check out OTRCAT on the net). The mp3 function is working flawlessly as I type, and the cassette was most excellent, too. Seeing that someone had a cassette button fly off, I'm taking the precaution of depressing these carefully and protecting the one that will "pop up" when hitting another. Other than that, I've no concerns.VOLUME, located alongside the left speaker, and TUNING, by the right one, are adjusted with oversized easy-to-find dials.It's only Hour #2, so if anything worth mentioning occurs, this review will be updated. So far though, I most definitely recommend the SUPERSONIC SC-719.

Good Buy

This is a great product for it's relatively low price. The packaging was very secure when I received it, but the box was sort of Big. The tape deck is great, because it allows you to record from the radio, CD player, or the Aux input. Another good thing is that the machine can play MP3 disks, which have much more capacity than audio disks. The tuner is very unique, because it's an analog tuner with a digital readout, and it works out pretty well. The battery compartment is on the bottom, which is great. A few letdowns are that it does not come with an Auxiliary cable, there is no headphone jack, and it doesn't have a remote. A few strange things about this product, are that the CD player and tape deck have very stiff doors, and there is a very faint ringing sound when it plays CD's, this is probably because the designers figured that you were probably going to use this at the beach or at a party, and you wouldn't notice it. Overall, this product is really nice, and i highly recommend it.

High end quality and functionality at a low end price.Out performs the sony and RCA i bought from Wal-Mart and returned,including a high end panasonic i ordered online.However, the picture just does'nt do it justice.I like everyting about this unit especially the soft touchto open the tape deck and CD door and the soft blue lights do putoff a romantic glow and there aint nothing wrong with the radio.So..., the bottom line is, if you order this product, I hope yours is asgood as mine.P.S. also plays homemade CD's GOOD LUCK!!!
