What's actually included

Well after many hours trying to find out what is actually included in this package, specifically which cables may or may not be included, therfore, I ordered an additonal RAID controller to RAID controller cable SFF8087 - SFF8087, as it wasn't clear if this cable was included, as it happens I now have seven of these cables! six came with the expander.What I should've ordered was a SATA fanout cable, connecting the expander card to 4 sata devices.Hope this helps.

Intel SATA Splitter

This is a truly great product - it is very fast and it just works. However, it only works with certain SATA controllers, for example the LSI 9211-4i and 9211-8i HBAs. Paired with the right controller, and boot up is extremely fast, even with 20 drives, and performance is very good. Highly recommended. On the negative size, Intel's documentation is very Intel-centric and unhelpful. Don't let the documentation scare you off - this is a great product.

Title pretty much sums it up. The SAS expander works just fine and the included SFF8087 cables are perfect. What could be better is the supporting documentation that details the various ways the expander can be utilized.Note: This is not a RAID adapter. This card takes a RAID adapter with limited ports, like an LSI 92xx model, and lets you expand the number of drives you can physically connect.I am powering my card via the Molex connector as I didn't have an open slot.
