B+W 86mm XS-Pro Clear with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating (007M) Product Description:

  • This filter uses our XS-Pro Digital mount which is especially suited for DSLRs with wide angle and zoom lenses. It has a front thread for additional accessories. All XS-Pro Digital mounts are made of brass and are matte black to prevent reflections.
  • MRC Nano has an improved outer (8th) layer over regular MRC. The nanotechnology based characteristic (lotus effect) produces a better beading effect with water making the cleaning of this filter even simpler and faster than ever before.
  • Manufactured from Water-White Schott Glass

Product Description

This filter fulfills the desire of many photographers for pure lens protection without a filter effect. Its only function is to keep dirt, sand, or splashes away from the front lens. The extremely clear special glass with high transmission is MRC-finished.

4Excellent Build When Not a Flawed MRC Batch
By ambientphoto
Thanks to Amazon.com's excellent exchange policy, my purchase of three B+W XS-Pro MRC Nano filters has a happy ending. The first three filters all had speckled flaws in the MRC Nano coating. Other users of B+W filters have mentioned this with certain batches of filters with the newer MRC Nano coating, yet something I have not seen on any other B+W filters purchased.Amazon promptly exchanged all three filters, with the replacements appearing flawless. Overall, the filters, in construction and brass fitting, are excellent, and the easy to blow clean coating certainly makes avoiding valuable lens surface damage in detrimental photography conditions.

5Wow not cheap:( But very much the cost!

I recently bought the 82mm for my 24-70 & 77mm for my 70-200 not at all disappointed with my purchase! My shots look cleaner & brighter compared to the UV filters i was using (Hoya). Just wow never in my wildest dreams thought i'd spend over 200.00 on 2 filters! But all in all very much worth it for the lens i use them on:))

5You can see the difference!
By My Cat's Name Is Bernie
I got a Tiffen Water White clear filter a couple of years ago to use for protection of my Canon EF-S 18-200 lens. I was hoping it would be a good compromise between price and quality. The filter usually worked OK, but I occasionally got ghosts or flare on my images. I finally gave up and got this B+W XS-Pro. It cost more that twice as much as the Tiffen, but I can really see the difference. As a test, I put both the Tiffen and B+W filters side-by-side on a table top in a room with ceiling lights. I then positioned my head so I could see a ceiling light reflected by each filter surface. With the Tiffen filter, a bright reflection appeared. With the B+W, the reflection was barely visible. If you are want to get the best possible quality images from your lens, then I suggest spend the extra money for this filter. You get what you pay for.
